Pro-Tips for a Smooth Custom Order: What You Need to Know Before We Start Building
Buying a custom furniture piece is an exciting process, but because these tables are massive, heavy, and completely one-of-a-kind, there are a few logistical "realities" we need to chat about.
To make sure your experience is seamless from the workshop to your living room, here are 7 critical things to keep in mind:
1. The Standard "Leg Room"
By default, our table leg height is set at 28 inches. This is the industry standard for dining comfort. However, if you have custom seating or just prefer a different height, please let us know before we finalize the design. Once the legs are fabricated, changing the height isn't a quick fix!
2. The Nuance of "Black Resin"
Black resin is a classic choice, but it’s not always "solid black." Depending on the depth and the specific style you’re looking at, the transparency can vary. Some black resins have a smoky, translucent quality, while others are pitch-opaque. If you have a specific "vibe" in mind, let's talk about it during the design phase so there are no surprises when the light hits the table.
3. Not Every Wood Loves Every Finish
We love pushing the boundaries of design, but we also respect the wood. Some timber species, due to their natural grain and oil content, don't react well to "separated" surface treatments. If your heart is set on a specific wood but the finish you want might compromise its long-term durability, we’ll let you know and suggest a safer, equally beautiful alternative.
4. Our "Golden Rule": No Approval, No Sawing
We’re just as eager as you are to get started, but we have a strict policy: Production does not begin until you have officially confirmed the CAD drawings. This ensures every dimension and slab placement is exactly what you envisioned. Once we start cutting and pouring, the design is locked in.
5. Standard Delivery vs. "White Glove"
Our standard shipping is Curbside Delivery. This means the driver will get the crate to your curb, but they aren't responsible for bringing it inside or setting it up. If you live in an apartment or simply don’t want to deal with a 400lb crate, please ask us about White Glove Service early on. We’ll need to arrange that extra help ahead of time.
6. The "90-Inch" Logistics Challenge
If your table is over 90 inches long, it usually won't fit on a standard truck’s liftgate. In these cases, you’ll need to have a plan for offloading. Whether that’s a couple of strong friends or a forklift (if it's a massive commercial piece), make sure you're prepared. The last thing you want is a giant crate stuck on a truck because there's no way to get it down!
7. Think About the Path to the Room
Size matters—not just for the look, but for the delivery. We’ve had cases where a client received their dream table only to find it wouldn’t fit in the elevator. We’ve seen tables have to be cut in half just to get inside!
Also, for massive orders (like a recent 96'' x 96'' project), standard freight drivers often hesitate to take the job because of the damage risk. In those cases, we have to use specialized flatbed trucks. Please measure your doors, hallways, and elevators before committing to a massive size.
We’re here to help!
We aren't telling you this to scare you—we want your delivery day to be a celebration, not a headache. If any of this sounds complicated, just reach out. We’ve handled hundreds of these deliveries and can help you figure out the best logistics plan.
