Daily Maintenance Guide for Solid Wood Slab Tables & Epoxy Resin Slab Tables
Handcrafted Furniture • Long-lasting Beauty • Natural Comfort
I. Daily Care for Solid Wood Slab Tables
Solid wood slab tables are more durable and long-lasting than regular furniture. Each slab has undergone kiln-drying, insect-proofing, waterproof treatment, and is finished with SAICOS natural plant-based wood oil, ensuring safety, eco-friendliness, and the preservation of every natural grain and texture.
1. Maintain Indoor Humidity (Ideal: 35%–65%)
Wood naturally expands and contracts with humidity.
If indoor humidity drops below 40%, or if the space lacks ventilation or remains in high heat for long periods, cracking may occur.
We strongly recommend using a hygrometer and humidifier during fall and winter to keep humidity stable.
Routine Maintenance Tips
01. Prevent Exposure to Direct Sunlight
Continuous sunlight can cause oxidation, discoloration, and even cracking or warping due to drastic temperature differences.
02. Keep Away From Humid Environments
Avoid placing the slab in damp areas to prevent mold growth on the surface caused by excessive moisture.
03. Stay Away From Heat Sources
Heat sources such as heaters, radiators, ovens, air conditioners, and stoves may cause cracking or deformation. Keep your slab at a safe distance.
04. Clean Spills and Dust Promptly
Wipe off standing water, dust, or stains immediately to keep the table clean and prolong its lifespan.
05. Dry Wipe as the Primary Cleaning Method
Daily cleaning should be done with a dry cloth.
For stubborn stains, use a well-wrung damp cloth.
Avoid excessive water to prevent cracking or warping.
06. Wax/Oil Maintenance
Apply SAICOS natural plant-based wood oil every 3 months, especially on the tabletop ends, to prevent cracking and deformation and maintain a smooth, natural feel.
About SAICOS Plant-Based Wood Oil
SEAWAVETABLE uses original SAICOS Germany plant-based wood oil, safe even for children after curing.
The oil penetrates deeply into the slab surface, highlighting the natural texture and increasing warmth over time.
Since there is no paint film, small scratches and marks are normal and become part of the table’s character.
If deeper scratches develop, customers can lightly sand the area and reapply wood oil to restore smoothness.
Do NOT use edible oils (they encourage mold growth).
II. Daily Care for Epoxy Resin Slab Tables
Epoxy river tables combine natural wood slabs with artistic resin. The resin surface is durable, water-resistant, and easy to maintain, but care should differ depending on the finish.
General Epoxy Care (Applicable to All Finishes)
1. Avoid High Heat
Do not place hot pots, pans, or heated appliances directly on the surface.
Use heat pads or coasters to avoid thermal marks.
2. Prevent Scratches
Epoxy is resistant but not scratch-proof.
Avoid dragging metal objects, ceramic dishes, or sharp items across the surface.
3. Clean Gently
Daily cleaning: soft microfiber cloth.
Mild soap + water for deeper cleaning.
Avoid harsh chemicals, acetone, or alcohol-based cleaners.
4. Avoid Sunlight Exposure
Direct UV exposure may cause slight yellowing over many years. Place the table away from windows or use UV curtains.
III. Care Based on Finish Type
A. Full Gloss Finish (High Gloss Wood + High Gloss Resin)
This finish reflects light beautifully but shows fingerprints and micro-scratches more easily.
Maintenance Tips:
-
Use a soft microfiber cloth for wiping to avoid swirl marks.
-
For light scratches, use automotive-grade polish (non-abrasive).
-
Avoid paper towels—they may leave scratches.
-
Keep abrasive cleaners and rough fabrics away.
B. Full Matte Finish (Matte Wood + Matte Resin)
Matte surfaces are elegant, low-reflection, and visually calm.
Maintenance Tips:
-
Clean with a soft cloth; matte surfaces conceal fingerprints.
-
Do NOT use polish or wax, as they create uneven shine.
-
For stubborn spots, use a damp cloth with mild soap.
C. Wood Matte + Resin Gloss (Most Common Resin River Table Finish)
Wood retains a natural matte look, while the resin river remains glossy and reflective.
Maintenance Tips:
For the wood area:
-
Treat like a solid wood slab (dry wipe, avoid moisture, maintain humidity).
-
Reapply SAICOS oil every 3–6 months.
For the resin area:
-
Wipe with microfiber cloth.
-
Use non-abrasive resin polish if micro-scratches appear.
-
Avoid heavy impact or sharp tools on the resin river.
IV. Long-Term Protection Tips (Both Solid Wood & Resin Tables)
-
Use placemats and coasters during dining.
-
Avoid overly moist or dry indoor environments.
-
Keep the table level to prevent long-term pressure distortion.
-
Lift rather than drag heavy objects.
-
Clean regularly to maintain sheen and color stability.
